Committee Switches Bills for Hearings

Rep. Tom Burch

Rep. Tom Burch

Here’s an update to today’s earlier post. We now understand that rather than Senate Bill 9 (the Ultrasound Consent bill) and House Bill 215 (a bill to prohibit abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy) the Kentucky House Health and Welfare Committee will hold its hearings on two different abortion bills on Thursday.

According to the committee schedule, the committee hearings will be on House Bill 243, which bans out-of-state minors from getting a Kentucky judicial bypass of their parents in seeking an abortion, and House Bill 390 (the Kentucky Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act), which would make abortion after the 20th week a Class D felony.

Leadership and a sizable number of committee members are staunch abortion advocates so the switch may be for the purpose of keeping pro-life citizens off-balance going into the hearing.

Please continue to pray for this situation and that the legislators will allow Senate Bill 9 to receive a fair hearing before the full House. If you haven’t done so already, please contact your legislator and the members of the committee.

Call 1-800-372-7181 and leave a message for your legislator and other House leaders asking that Senate Bill 9 be sent to the full House for a vote. You don’t have to know the name of your legislator. The operator will help you get the message to the right individual.

Here is a list of the members of the House Health and Welfare Committee. Please stand up for unborn children by letting these committee members hear from you.

Have the operator also copy the following House leaders:
